Official recap with Stoked on Fishing! There is no pill, no prescription and no vaccination that can cure the effects of PTS better than connecting with fellow Veterans through shared experiences. Stoked On Fishing and Save The Brave.org team up with a host of family, friends, and sponsors to bring awareness to PTSD (Post Traumatic syndrome) which is one of our most significant problems in America today. On this special episode were taking a group of veterans fishing on an overnight trip on the El Dorado out of Long Beach Sportfishing. We hook up to some giant southern California White Sea Bass, Calico Bass, Sheep’s Head, and Yellowtail.

“Many of those service members have lost close friends, while others have lost digits and even limbs. Some fight mental-health problems that are far more insidious than any physical wounds; the suicide rate for our nation’s veterans is alarmingly high. But one activity has been proven to help in nearly every circumstance: fishing.” www.savethebrave.org

The Downey Patriot Highlights Cpl Litke Golf Tournament Raising Money For Vets With PTS
Save the Brave, a non-profit organization aimed at providing camaraderie and stress management programs to veterans who suffer from PTSD, is hosting the first ever Corporal Simon R. Litke Magnificent Bastards Charity Golf Tournament on Sept. 12.
The event will take place at the MCCS Camp Pendleton – Marine Memorial Golf Course, and will feature live music, food, drinks, silent auction, and of course, golf.
The tournament is being held in honor of Corporal Simon R. Litke, who was a squad leader in Ramadi with 2/4 Echo Company. Litke died by suicide in 2015.
This is the first golf tournament being held by Save the Brave (STB). According to STB president and founder Nick Velez, who owns Bastards Canteen in Downey, the tournament will not be “like your average golf tournament.”

Simon Litke Final Salute
Simon Litke was a combat decorated United States Marine. Everyone who knew Litke would characterize him as charming, encouraging, and a leader. As a leader of Marines, Litke taught men how to survive, and also made the days under the hot Ramadi sun bearable. On November 2, 2015 Litke left us with a lot of questions unanswered. We lost an iconic Marine to the battles we still face as veterans, suicide.
The memorial service will be held at:

The Downey Patriot Features Save The Brave Bike Ride
Save the Brave has been featured in “Save the Brave pedals to PTSD awareness“, an article written by Alex Dominguez of The Downey Patriot. Below is an excerpt and a link to the full article.
“In an effort to raise awareness for victims of Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), the Save the Brave Organization held their first annual Save the Brave Community Bike Ride last Sunday at Rio San Gabriel Park.
Save the Brave is a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting veterans in the often difficult process of rebuilding their lives once returning from a combat zone. Many of the group’s members are combat veterans themselves, who have also struggled with the demons that come to so many of those who fought for the country.”
